Where I'm at...

Have been swamped at work...either people are sick, out of town, or what have you, not to mention I was out sick one day this week as well...

I'm trying to get back up to date on Twitter and facebook, but as I've mentioned more than once, I'm not internet ready at home yet and if I'm feeling lousy, I only like to travel so far from my apartment to get online (Our public library is closed on Sundays.). Saturdays are a madhouse for me, so I rarely even contemplate even cramming one more thing into my schedule for a Saturday.

Blogger on the other hand, I can update at work during my break times. So, that's how I've been able to be fairly timely when it comes to blogging. This is the longest I've ever kept a blog going actually. The only thing I can not do at work is scan/upload pictures to my blog from work...But my free/break time has been nil as of late, so I haven't even had the time to run down to Kinko's on break like I usually do.

I drew some more this weekend (a cat...I'll scan it in...I'm way behind on posting stuff to this blog too...I'm sorry about that)...I'm waiting on some more of my Chinese Brush Painting Supplies to come in before I get more heavily into that.

Beyond that, not very much to tell...

I'm waiting on my TII DVD to come in the mail...I thought I'd ordered early enough that I'd have it by now, but no such luck, I should've done what I normally do and go to Target.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing The Wolfman in a few weeks.

Bought some more kitchen stuff for my apartment...bowls, a drainer,...some little LED lights for my closets...

I'm having a guy come over to measure for carpetting next week. (One of my aunts recommended him. Hopefully all will go well.)

What I'm reading: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is grossing me out (Charlotte...Eww!)...I just don't think I'm going to finish it.

I'm also reading Lev Grossman's The Magicians...It makes me think of The Secret Garden, The Harry Potter Series, all that good stuff. I loved books like that growing up...I'd just lose myself.

Donnie Simpson leaving WPGC

I had hoped this was only a rumor, then I read yesterday's paper and saw that this was confirmed...It truly breaks my heart to hear this...My mother passed away going on 3 years ago...Then Michael Jackson passed away last year. And now Donnie Simpson is leaving WPGC (He got me into Minnie Riperton, The Beatles [He wasn't afraid to play white artists too, I liked that.], and Marvin Gaye [ He particularly got me into some of Marvin Gaye's more obscure cuts, such as "Come Get to This".) ...All these events together feel like the end of an era to me...I loved Donnie Simpson's format and how he would play things from "back in the day"...the only other station I can think of that makes me anywhere near as happy is Majic102.3. I hope this doesn't mean it's only a matter of time before they're gone too. If that's the case, it looks like I'll either be switching over to an Ipod or Sirius...I'm sorry it had to come to this and that some type of an agreement couldn't be reached...

Curbside cupcakes...

These people are awesome...I tried a key lime cupcake yesterday and I just about levitated. The icing wasn't too tart or too sweet...the cupcake was moist. Try them out...

Poe toaster didn't show?

A thought on the Poe toaster's absence had crossed my mind, but I think it's too bizarre even to post here. I've always been fascinated by this whole thing too though...It'll be interesting to see if this is one of those things that just stays a mystery...Sometimes, it's good to have stuff like that...I think it strengthens the imagination.

Claustrophobia?

One of the elevators I was in at work got really crowded. I had to rush out and sit down. I had one person ask me if I was ok and I didn't want her to "call someone from my office for me". :( I didn't even realize I was shaking until this guy pointed it out and he thought I was shaking because I was cold...When in the hell did I develop claustrophobia? That's the last thing I need with Metro as bad as it can be here.

Teddy Pendergrass

I just heard about Teddy Pendergrass this morning...I can't remember who bought Life is a Song Worth Singing, but we definitely had it at our apartment...I can remember an uncle coming over to visit and wearing that album out. :D

Teddy Pendergrass's duet with Whitney Houston Hold Me on Whitney's debut album was one of my favorite cuts.

I can also remember how my father would rent cars so we could go on little family excursions, and Joy would always seem to come on the radio at one point.

Teddy Pendergrass will definitely be missed.

Earthquake in Haiti...

I will do something to assist in helping people get back on their feet in Haiti, I'm just not sure what yet. I may donate goods and money, but I'll have to see what my budget allows for...I don't have relatives down there or anything, but I look at it like this...I would want someone to look into the kindness of their heart and do something for me were the situation reversed...I helped out after Katrina...I want to be a part of this too...It also doesn't feel right to sit back and watch others help...especially when the people involved look like you. There's just something that feels wrong to me about that...I mean, if you honestly are so strapped for cash/resources, that you can't look out for anyone but self, that's one thing (I thought that news headline about the Salvation Army and the bad checks was just sad. If you can't give money, give your time, but don't write a bad check, that just hurts everybody.) But if you have even a little something to spare and then don't do what you can?...That's a decision you have to live with and face yourself in the mirror for, every day for the rest of your life...I don't mean to sound so/too preachy in this blog post...Some nights when I have insomnia, this is some of the kind of stuff I think about though.

Homemade tomato sauce for spaghetti

I was chatting with one of my aunts last night and I casually mentioned that I fixed my own spaghetti last night. When I mentioned that I got my sauce out of a jar, although she didn't outright voice her disapproval, there was definitely a note of it in her response...I know it's healthier to make your own, but as I pointed out, I only have roughly 5 hours of "Me" time, before I absolutely have to be in the bed or be a zombie the next day. I don't like to leave dishes sitting in the sink and I'm not very experienced at cutting up vegetables, therefore it takes me longer than say for someone who's been at it for decades (Not a potshot, just a truthful observation. I think we're less than 20 years apart in age anyway.).

I have gotten way better about buying more healthy snacks, salads, fruit, trail mix, etc. But, I'm just not to the point where I have the time to put into making my own spaghetti sauce. Guacamole and stuff like that might be fun to make too, but I just don't always have the time, money, or energy to put into it that I'd like to. I like to do well at the things I decide to do, once I take the time to get into them.

Twitter...

I keep meaning to post, but work has been rather hectic...once I get off...other things usually take priority...I'm surprised I still have an account frankly...I love the chance to "follow" people I probably wouldn't normally get the chance to keep track of though...Lenny Kravitz, Janet Jackson. I don't tweet more, because I don't like to post boring tweets...it's somewhat of a novelty when celebs do it, because they get treated like they're not people sometimes, so to read about them doing mundane stuff is somehow perceived as refreshing. When a regular person does it, friends and acquaintances just sort of go "Thanks for the newsflash : /". I've never been the sort of person that could keep my thoughts, feelings, etc. to just 140 characters or less anyhow...I don't want to stop trying though, because if there's one thing I can't resist, it's a positive challenge. Hopefully, I'll improve with it, just like I intend to get better about procrastinating.

Simpsons 20th anniversary episode

Why no Leon Kompowsky mention? (You best believe that little figure is front and center on my desk at work today)

Or no "Do the Bartman" mention either for that matter?...Is it going to be included in special footage on a future DVD release or the 30th, and 50th anniversaries? That's the only reason I can think of for such a glaring omission. I liked live action Nelson Muntz and Comic Book Guy though. They cracked me up. That Eartha Kitt particpated in a Simpsons ep makes me miss her that much more and Anne Hathaway is awesome.

Comments in foreign languages

I have a comment in a foreign language and no idea how to read it...I don't want to delete it without knowing what it says...Hopefully it doesn't say anything inappropriate...if someone out there understands the comment on my vampire mag post and realizes it is something I shouldn't have up, please by all means let me know.

Thanks,

Miz T

Thriller Live!

Just found out they're extending this at the Lyric...Maybe I'll get to see it after all. :D I really would love to...

New Year's Resolutions

Well, ...I can scotch the I will no longer procrastinate one....lol

Before the end of this year, I want to get a laptop. Once I have done that, hopefully I will be better about keeping up with my twitter and facebook accounts amongst other things.

I also want to sign up for a yoga class...My stress levels have been ridiculous lately. If it weren't for time and money...I would have done this like yesterday...but with the economy and my expenses being what they are, I've had to reprioritize greatly...

Another Day

I was going to blog about Another Day, but someone else has said what I was going to say way better than I ever could.
