Here, there, and everywhere...

Haven't been blogging or journalling much lately.

Not much to say...

Still looking for at least one more plant for the balcony...

I'm debating on whether or not to renew my apartment lease , go someplace else, or a rather scary third alternative... I 'll cross the third alternative when I come to it.

Cosi's Santa Fe Breakfast Wrap is awesome, it's so good I wish they were one of those places that served breakfast all day.

Just when I think I've got my insomnia licked it starts up all over again...No wonder so many people either od or develop other problems stemming from it. It really is an extremely tough thing to battle. I never dreamed I'd be facing it firsthand and for so long...

I keep getting comments to my posts, but have only received one in English and the other non-English ones, I can't read. I'm having a difficult time finding a translator...

Have gotten a little better with keeping on top of my fb and Twitter accounts. Got a flickr account, but don't know when I'll get the chance to upload anything to it or my long dormant photobucket account.

Got some drawing books in the mail, that I'm anxious to work with...

I bought a puzzle book for Metro delays...I'm looking for a book of Sudoku with letters/alphabets but I'm having a tough time finding one. Guess I'll have to cast a wider net.

Stephenie Meyer has a new vampire novella coming out, but I think I'll pass...(Why waste a novella on a dead undead character?)

Books I'm Reading Now: Pryor Convictions by Richard Pryor *

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith

Michael Jackson Conspiracy by Aprhodite Jones

I just finished Sunflowers by Sheramy Bundrick. Awesome, awesome book. I think it's probably the best book with a historic artist for the subject matter that I ever read. As I finished it up this morning on the train, I didn't even realize I was crying until I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks.

Speaking of painting, I seriously need to pick up some Turpenoid (brush/paint cleaner for those that don't know.).

Looked at some sofabeds for my apartment, but so far of the ones I've seen online, I strongly dislike all of them. (Either the style is wrong, or they're not available in the color I want.)

Will have to catch what I missed of Lost last night this evening (Thank heaven for DVRs).

Wish this weather would hurry up and stabilize, was totally unprepared for this wind today. It's wonderful to see the sun out though.

I've been dreaming about my mother a lot lately. I miss her so much it's ridiculous.

Well, that's all for now

* - Pam Grier has a book coming out, it'll be interesting/good to read her side of the story.

Ricky Martin

Not to be snide or anything, but in what way was this a surprise? Some stuff, you just know without it ever having to be said/admitted to aloud. :)

If at first you don't succeed...

I am trying to eat healthier...One of the things I tried eating this week was Greek yogurt. It was nasty...Even buying vanilla flavor didn't help. (It's not as sweet as Yoplait, Dannon, and the rest.) Maybe adding fruit will help. It was all I could do not to heave trying to finish it. :P I guess maybe it's an acquired taste... I'm ticked that I have one more container of it...I hate wasting food...I'll figure something out...I still have strawberries in the fridge. Mixing the two together just might work...

The Runaways (not a review)

I'm very much looking forward to seeing this movie...even if like most people the only members of this band I "know" are Joan Jett and Lita Ford (I enjoyed songs by both. Plus I respect them both for holding their own in a male dominated form of music. Just as I admire and respect certain female rappers for the same reason...Queen Latifah, Eve,Salt n Pepa, ...).
I wanted to read Cherie Currie's Neon Angel before I went to see the movie, but procastination and multiple projects got me again. I'll probably go on ahead and read it after as, rock bios are another favorite type of book I enjoy.

5...4...3...2...1...Rant!

I have 3 different things I want to rant about. Rather than do three different posts, I'm just going to combine them and get them all out of my system at once.

Yesterday, I got off at 4:30 to find the Orange trains weren't running because of a broken train I believe...I'm signed up for an alert...did we get one...Nope. Not on the loud speakers, not on the e-mail alerts. The only way you could tell was by looking at those electronic monitors and noticing the lack of anything orange. Guess they said, "Well they can figure it out." I've never wanted wings so badly in my life...

Found out they extended some hours on the dates for the Terra Cotta Warriors at the National Geographic Museum. I give it one more shot...Guess what the message I got was after I ordered one ticket for 9:30AM on 3/28/2010. Please order less tickets than the number you requested...WTF???!!!How do you order less than one ticket. If the time is sold out, just say it! And I'm not even going to get started on the ridiculous virtual waiting room travesty.

Texas...I read an article in the express...and I forgot whether this is just one county or across the state...They want to exclude teaching that Hip Hop is part of American culture...I wonder what else they'll see fit to exclude. Jazz maybe?

Twitter...

I knew it had been a while since I logged on to Twitter, but now I'm a bit embarassed. The little counter said 5 months... :( I didn't realize it had been that long. The thing is I don't like to tweet every 5 minutes about really mundane things...Some celebs can get away with it, but for the most part, it's just a bunch of stuff somebody is probably reading, shrugging, and going "Who cares?" to. I'm sitting here trying really hard not to doze off...I'm toying with going to see a late night Saturday screening of Black Dynamite. It's funny what I'm waxing all nostalgic over. I saw the video (on either Vh-1 Classic or Vh-1 Soul...Can't remember which...) to Rick James and Smokey Robinson's song "Ebony Eyes" and actually almost got misty. It brought back memories of Music Video Connection like I don't know what.

Corey Haim...

Yesterday was the 13th anniversary (can't believe it's been that long.) of Biggie's death...No sooner am I recovering from that, when I hear this...

Corey Haim has also passed...

My favorite movies of Corey Haim's were Lucas and The Lost Boys. I wanted to see all of Watchers, but never got the chance..

Something that tickled me about he and Corey Feldman, was that they were so famous in the 80's, even Matt Groening felt compelled to comment on it...(Remember Lisa's Corey mags and the Corey line?)

I can remember seeing he and Corey Feldman on 16 mags, BOP...What was the other one?...Tiger Beat...There were others, but those were like the main 3 for me.

ETA: The COD for Corey Haim was pneumonia complications. I'm ecstatic that it wasn't drugs, but at the same time, I'm still saddened...did he not know that he had pneumonia? Did he blow it off thinking it was a cold? I hate to see people neglect themselves even if it's unintentional. His death definitely could have been avoided, which makes it even more tragic. I think a lot of cases are like this, not just in Hollywood, but everywhere. It's got to change...

Dismayed...

I was looking around on Amazon just now and was in disbelief to find that there is no soundtrack available for the movie " The Family That Preys". I was looking for that beautiful verision of "I Hope You Dance" that Gladys Knight did. I know it's available online somewhere, but ...I just can't believe there's no soundtrack for that movie...Guess I haven't completely gotten used to the whole downloading songs to the ipod thing yet...Welcome to the 21st century...Guess I'm too old school for my own good.

Sorry...

Sorry it's been so long since my last post...I've been swamped at work and will be swamped some more as I've got a co-worker who I back up, who will be out two days in a row. At least having a lot of work makes the day go faster. : D

We have a co-worker who has started the glorious tradition of a candy dish at work...Lately, I've been avoiding it, but my eye happened to fall on a Tootsie Pop in an unusual color wrapper...I pick it up and it's pomegranate...When did Tootsie Pop start making pomegranate flavor lollies???!!! I took it of course. X D I think that's so wild... I didn't think they got that exotic.

I'm trying to update my facebook and get on Twitter, but most weekends I'm just drained...I'm hoping that changes as the weather warms up. I'm trying to eat more fruit and excercise more and see if that doesn't perk me up, but right now, it's just not happening. (I've got relatives probably pissed at me for how little I get on facebook...What can I say? I was never a social butterfly...I was and still am more of an introvert.) The shrink I went to yesterday says that I have "self-esteem issues". That may very well be...She wants me to go to therapy too...It can't hurt, but I've been down that road before...

Was looking at the weekend section of the paper...and I got a better look at the Cheshire Cat from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland...I don't really like it...it looks like something out of a horror movie I've seen, but I can't remember which one, but that's Tim Burton for you. :D

Beyond going to see Alice in Wonderland, not much else is doing with me. I'd like to get some more chairs for my apartment, but beyond that...I'm just trying to take stuff as it comes and respond accordingly.
