Lost finale (Spoilers!!!!!!), BP mess now screwing up Louisiana's Wetlands, Bret Michaels, Brittany Murphy's husband, etc.

So much to blog about today...

Last night my local news kind of took me aback, because on one station they actually put Lost finale news ahead of everything else. And people wonder why so many don't have their priorities straight...I'm a hardcore Lostie (I've got Dharma labels, subscribe to the mag, I'm a member of The Fuselage...own a copy of Bad Twin and everything, but at the same time, it's not all I eat sleep and breath...I know there's a world out there...I'm not saying all Lost fans don't, but every fandom has truly scary people in it that can't prioritize...Why encourage them?)

The BP oil spill...This terrifies me, because I fear one of these days...for whatever reason...there will be nothing anyone can do to clean up their mess...and then it's just going to start destroying the food chain from bottom to top...With pollution and not enough recycling, we're already doing enough damage and now this? I'm just really scared...For those of you out there wondering...I do recycle daily, both at work and at home...But I don't get on a soapbox at anyone about it, because I definitely don't like that being done to me.

Bret Michaels winning the apprentice...I don't know how to feel about that, because I didn't watch the whole season...I don't want to think it's a pity win...Goodness knows that man's been to hell and back though...so he deserved something...I was never really a huge Poison fan ( back when I was into metal, I preferred harder edged bands with more eclectic sounds, like Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Living Color, ...)I liked a few songs hear and there Somethin' to Believe In comes to mind at the moment. I remember funny stuff like that comic that Revolutionary put out where Guns N' Roses get into a pool fight and Hugh Hefner's mansion...I've watched a Season of Rock of Love too...I hope his health improves...

Brittany Murphy's hubby...Until more details are released I don't want to speculate too much...but I feel like there's something hinky about that whole thing...If it was suicide...I just find that incredibly sad...

Finally, my take on the Lost finale...I was a bit disappointed...It wasn't hard to see the purgatory allusions...A lot of people predicted it. I was not one. :) About all I was sure about was that it was not Vincent's dream...I feel like a lot of new territory that could have been explored wasn't. What was up with all the Ancient Egyptian glyphs particularly the ones on the flipping counter in the Swan station and the huge statue of Tawaret? (Must've been a flimsy a#$ statue for a wooden ship to break it.)...Jacob and the Man in Black's foster mom sure didn't look Egyptian.

I didn't expect to have every question answered, but to leave things that were such a huge part of the initial seasons hanging in the air like that? It nagged at me...(It's not hard to imagine why I will probably turn to fan fiction to fill the void...)

Where the h*#$ was Walt????!!!! Yes, actors age, but he'd have aged on the island too. They could have chalked it up to the electromagnetic forces anything. Everyone's hair grew...Why wouldn't a child grow?...I don't understand that.

The fact that there was no Ana Lucia, Mr. Eko, or Michael and Walt in Jack's version of heaven disconcerted me too...What's up with that? Why is Rose the only Black person in the whole church? Then I also had to wonder...wouldn't Sun, Jin, and Sayid depending on their religions have their own ideas of heaven (I guess the stained glass window was supposed to solve this problem...but I'm still just not satisfied)? It was said that this was a place they all created for each other...but I felt like it was just a pretty way to wrap everything up in a neat little bow, and please the romantics in the audience...and don't think I didn't tear up a little, but at the same time the gears were turning feverishly in my brain. It's like Cuse and Lindelof took a page from Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones. It had bits of something else in it too...I could remember last night, but for some reason I can't remember now.
Someone on another site also brought up the fact that the MIB/Flocke was killed before he could have a shot @ redemption...He seemed to far gone to me, but that's just my take...

Ben...I'll never be able to suss him out...The way he risked his life to save Hurley's...I can't figure out whether that was him being maniuplative so he could use it later or he was genuine...

Boone...It would have been sad not to see him, but I just felt like he was just so much eye candy last night...I wanted to post a picture of him from last night maybe I can find one later...(What tripped me out is someone out there probably was watching and went "Ooh Damon Salvatore! Not realizing he was Boone first.) :D
I thought that scene where Desmond was putting the light out bordered on cheesy and I can't quite put my finger on why...
Was it really necessary to have Claire give birth in the concert hall to have things come full circle? Something about that felt a little too staged to me...It's like Cuse and Lindelof were trying a little too hard to get things to come full circle.
No Nikki and Paulo? lol
Was the island ever really underwater? I don't see how it could've been.
I have favorite seasons (1, 2, 5 and 6)...
That beginning and ending coming full circle thing...I loved it but at the same time I thought it was a little too cute.
I almost forgot about the Target commercials...I don't know which made me laugh harder...The computer one or the smoke monster one.
All in all, I guess it couldn't ended in a worse way, but I felt like it could have been a bit better too. I'll be curious to see if the alternate endings are for real...I set the DVR for Jimmy Kimmel, because I had to work today...And my boss was going to pitch a fit if I called in. The money's worth it though, so I think I'll suck it up...at least for now.

Marving Gaye Biopics...Yeah, I'm still on it

Started to pick up Michael Eric Dyson's book on Marvin, but...my heads still to full of Michael and I freely admit it. Although I loved Marvin Gaye's music, I was never into him in the same way...I have read the Ritz book though...

Anyhoo, now I hear that Terence Howard may be playing Marvin...somehow I can't quite see that...And before I get flooded with nasty comments posts...I'm not saying he can't do it, I'm just saying I can't quite see it right now. As good an actor as he is, he may just blow me and other sceptics away...Will Smith did it in Ali. Jamie Foxx did it in Ray. Why not Mr. Howard?

I'm still waiting for Jesse L. Martin's Marvin Gaye biopic....I'm going to keep my fingers crossed until he gets too old for the part [That's what happened with a biopic that was planned about Jimi Hendrix...Laurence Fishburne got too old to play him...And that Wood Harris TV movie was just lousy...]. I don't know who is backing what pic or if both are one in the same...

I sort of like to see both hit the screen, if only just to compare and contrast...I think both would bring different gifts/visions to their portrayals of Marvin...some of you out there will probably think I'm just copping out, but I really do feel like in some things...variety is the spice of life. I also enjoy both actors performances...

In the meantime, what do y'all think?

In case you're wondering...

I have a Chinese post up, because I have a commenter who only responds to me in that language. The commenter posted a comment that roughly translates to "Nature is God's greatest flash in the pan."... I asked them what would make them say that? Not because I'm angry or offended, but because I just really honestly want to know...I'm also wondering if they're not posting stuff like this to draw me out a bit...

Homemade tomato sauce for spaghetti

I was chatting with one of my aunts last night and I casually mentioned that I fixed my own spaghetti last night. When I mentioned that I got my sauce out of a jar, although she didn't outright voice her disapproval, there was definitely a note of it in her response...I know it's healthier to make your own, but as I pointed out, I only have roughly 5 hours of "Me" time, before I absolutely have to be in the bed or be a zombie the next day. I don't like to leave dishes sitting in the sink and I'm not very experienced at cutting up vegetables, therefore it takes me longer than say for someone who's been at it for decades (Not a potshot, just a truthful observation. I think we're less than 20 years apart in age anyway.).

I have gotten way better about buying more healthy snacks, salads, fruit, trail mix, etc. But, I'm just not to the point where I have the time to put into making my own spaghetti sauce. Guacamole and stuff like that might be fun to make too, but I just don't always have the time, money, or energy to put into it that I'd like to. I like to do well at the things I decide to do, once I take the time to get into them.

Wolverine 2?

I hear this one takes place in Japan...if it's done right it should be very interesting...I hope it's better than the last one...Speaking of Wolverine, the version Hot Toys put out is...he takes my breath away...if I was a billionaire or if I hit the lottery for billions...I would so be getting him...(Unfortunately, for me, I'm not a billionaire, which means, that with the economy and HT's prices, I can only really afford to go gaga over and buy one of their figures per year, if I'm lucky. This year...my pick is HT's Thriller Michael Jackson...However, I will make an exception if they do letter jacket werelynx-cat beastie Thriller Michael too.)

Observations...

It's been a few days, since I've seen Star Trek, and I'm looking around at all the comments, that the film has gotten on some of my favorite sites, IO9, Den of Geek, and Sci-Fi wire to name a few. Most people either really love this film or really hate it. I'm not seeing a lot of middle ground people. I don't think the people that are criticizing the film get the fact that not only are we dealing with an alternate timeline, but this is supposed to be a reboot of Star Trek.

Speaking of the works of Abrams and Lindelof, I am so watching Lost tonight.

I just found out there's going to be a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas in August. I wish like mad I could go, but unless some miracle happens, nothing's doing.

Twitter...I hate to say it, but you have to be a certain type of blogger to really appreciate Twitter. I don't like blogging too much about minutiae (ie. It's 11:55pm and I am brushing my teeth. Now it's midnight and I'm turning down the covers.), because it gets boring fast, even if the person in question is a celebrity. I try to tweet about things that are out of the ordinary for me, or that I think might be of interest to others that are into the same thing. Like when I post about a J-horror film I'm watching or something like that.

I'm procrastinating like mad on seeing if I can get that drawing uploaded to this blog. I don't think anybody is really thinking about Wolverine at this point anyway. Are American attention spans really so short? If so, that doesn't speak volumes of us does it?

Are all women from Venus?

Today, I was sitting in the hair salon and they had Sex and the City on. I have never watched an episode of that show all the way through. I don't know why, but it just never caught on like that with me.

I went into Dress Barn looking for a black camisole top and wound up coming out with a leopard print dress. It won't break the bank or anything, but once I saw it on me in the fitting room, I just couldn't imagine leaving it in the store. (I'm trying to make it my last impulse buy for a while though, because I'm trying to save $3,000 by October, so that I can move without too many headaches. )

My sister and I were chatting this morning, and I forgot how it came up, but she was telling me that she didn't enjoy Kill Bill. I on the other hand loved it. I also got a kick out of the second half of DeathProof . My sister explained that she didn't mind violence that made sense in a movie, her problem was with senseless violence, which I can understand, because neither of us likes the Saw series. She also went on to say, that she doesn not hate all Tarantino films, because she did like Pulp Fiction. I forgot to ask her if she had seen Jackie Brown. (Pam Grier was in that. I've seen some of her blaxploitation films, but not all. I've seen Coffy, Foxy Brown, and there was another film, one where she played a private detective or a photographer, I'm wracking my brain, but I can't remember what the name of it was. I've also seen Scream, Blacula, Scream. The storyline could have been better. I liked the first Blacula way more. Ahem, getting back on track...I haven't seen Black Mama, White Mama, but I'd like to. To truly appreciate it, I'd probably have to watch the original The Defiant Ones right before it.
